In order to demonstrate my ability to implement this standard I have selected a few of the programs that I have been involved with or helped create over the past couple of years.
B.Y.O.D Program
In order to provide our students with the best education possible, I was able to plan and implement a 1:1 device program at San Ramon Valley High School with the help of my principal and assistant principal. It was my job to take the lead on technical and software research during our initial phase of the project. In the 2015-2016 school year we had half of the school using devices in the classroom and in 2016-2017 the entire student body will bring a device everyday. The implementation of technology in the learning environment was way overdue at S.R.V.H.S. Students are using technology at home more and more in order to learn and accomplish the assignments that are given to them. Allowing students the ability to use technology in the classroom has multiple benefits:
-Teaches a tool that can be used in the future
-Cuts down on paper costs
-Provides knowledge beyond that of the teacher
-Instant access to information
-Expands the possibilities of lesson planning
-Provides real-time assessments (check for understanding)
Educational Activities
The primary goal of this initiative is to enrich and enhance the student’s educational experience and provide 21st century skills for their future. Students will use devices to access resources, complete assignments, and for personal organization. Educational activities may include researching information, producing documents, analyzing data, participating in surveys, producing videos, creating blogs, taking notes, or scheduling events.
Digital Citizenship
Another focus of this initiative is digital citizenship, which is the responsible use of technology. Students will learn digital skills, ethics, etiquette, and online safety. These are important aspects of participating in today’s world.
Safety and Security
To maintain a safe and secure learning environment, a filtered SRVUSD Internet connection is provided for students. They will not be permitted to use a personal broadband connection such as a 3G/4G network. Any unauthorized use can result in consequences including, but not limited to, privileges being revoked. Students must keep track of their devices at all times.

At the start 2017 I began sending out a newsletter that I named The C.H.A.D (Computer Help and Awesome Doohickies). The purpose of the newsletter is to keep the staff of my school up to date on key technology issues and provide a small but mighty bit of professional development.
The reception to The C.H.A.D has been very positive. Since the start of the newsletter I have increased conversation about the topics included in the newsletter and stirred up more questions about the use of technology in the classroom. The newsletter has been a great way to get the teachers more interested in technology professional development. They often reach out to me after each newsletter is published to expand upon topics that are included or to ask related questions.
The content that is included in The C.H.A.D is supposed to be accessible to all level of the staff. I have seen a large increase in the use of sites and applications that I mention in the newsletter. Teachers have been most interested in the use of online quiz games in order to gage the level of understanding in the classroom as well as having a better understanding of simple solutions to fix common tech issues. I try to make sure that the newsletter is fun for the staff. I add a quote and a technology fun fact each week. It is always great to hear that the teachers like the fun facts and look forward to reading it each week.
